Why the Rosary?

The Rosary has been prayed by Catholics for 400+ years. It was given by the Blessed Virgin Mary as a powerful weapon against heresy, sin, and tyranny. Throughout history, Catholics have attributed to the Rosary victories that ended mass human sacrifice, prevented the extinction of nations, averted potential wars, and saved Catholic monasteries and faith from elimination.

Austria – The Rosary Crusade (1955)
FREED AUSTRIA FROM SOVIET OCCUPATION

After World War II, Austria lay under harsh Soviet occupation. Stalin's empire seemed immovable, and most believed the Red Army would never leave. Yet a humble Franciscan, Fr. Petrus Pavlicek, launched a bold campaign: "Pray the Rosary for peace and freedom." For ten years, over 500,000 Austrians — about 10% of the nation — pledged to pray the Rosary daily. Public processions filled Vienna with thousands of faithful carrying statues of Our Lady. The movement became a tidal wave of prayer, known as the "Rosary Crusade." Then, in May 1955, against all expectations, the Soviets suddenly agreed to withdraw — peacefully, without a single shot fired. Austria regained full independence, the only nation to be freed from Soviet control without bloodshed. The Austrians credited this miracle to Our Lady's intercession through the Rosary. To this day, the country celebrates May 13th — Fatima Day — in thanksgiving.
